What is mahikari sukyo?

Mahikari Sukyo is a Japanese religion founded by Yoshikazu Okada in 1959. The religion is based on the principles of purification and spiritual growth through the practice of giving and receiving light.

Mahikari Sukyo teaches that the universe is a living entity and that all living beings are interconnected, and that by channeling divine light, individuals can purify themselves and contribute to the betterment of the world. The religion believes in the existence of a "Supreme God" who created the universe and continues to guide it through the use of spiritual beings known as Amatsunorito.

The practice of Mahikari Sukyo involves giving and receiving light through a ritual called okiyome, where followers meditate and use hand gestures to transfer light energy. Mahikari is also known for its emphasis on gratitude and promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle to achieve spiritual growth.

Today, Mahikari Sukyo has followers in over 100 countries and operates centers for the practice of okiyome and other spiritual activities. However, the religion has faced controversy and criticism from some former members who allege financial impropriety and a cult-like culture within the organization.
